After returning home Carol attended Maryville College, completing her Bachelor of Arts in Religion in 1993, as well as graduate courses in Chaplain Studies. Carol volunteered for several organizations, and especially loved her time as a volunteer chaplain at Baptist Memorial in Knoxville.

Carol was an avid reader, gardner, seamstress, baker and writer/humorist who was published in several magazines. She adored her dogs and cats, especially longtime companion Alfie, her beloved Sheltie. Carol was a devout Christian and member of New Providence Presbyterian Church, where donations may be made in her memory.
