Maryville, TN

Carol Sue Werker, 79, born on October 9, 1946; passed away October 31, 2025, with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of Woodward (Woodie) and Mary Jane Svoboda Madden of Ligonier, Indiana.

She is survived by her High School sweetheart husband Ron of 59 years. They had 2 children Tina (Brian) Quarles, and Doug (Anna) Werker; 5 Grandchildren Cory Graves, Cody Graves, Brittney Matthews, Creed Werker, Ethan Werker; and 5 Great Grandchildren, Kylie, Kennedy, Harper, Mila, and Olivia. Also surviving are a Stepbrother Jack Lepird, a stepsister Shirley Welborn, in Indiana and half-brother Steve Lepird in Ohio.

Carol was a loving person who always had a smile on her face and a positive comment to others around her. She supported her husband through his college years when they were first married. Carol was always interested in child development, so she taught in her churches' daycare program for 3- and 4-year-olds. She was a wonderful stay at home Mom during her children's "Roots" and "Wings" years. After her kids were grown she worked in the office of a privately owned contractor for 18 years. She was always devoted to her husband, family, and her church family.

Carol with her husband Ron were devoted to their marriage vows. Over many years they worked with Marriage Encounter United Methodist Team Couples to help facilitate weekend seminars for other married couples to improve and enhance their marriages through improved communications skills and a commitment to each other.

Carol enjoyed cruising with her husband to celebrate their many anniversaries together. She was grateful for the opportunity to travel to Kuldiga, Latvia 4 times to a sister church there to meet new international friends and share in work and worship with them. She enjoyed meeting other people no matter where they were from. In her retirement years she became an avid "bead weaver." She became known locally for making many different styles of whimsical beaded earrings for others.

Carol will be greatly missed by her family and the many friends she has encountered over her years. The family wants to Thank everyone that has Prayed for Carol during her recent illnesses. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1st United Methodist Church of Maryville on November 16 at 2:00 PM. A greeting of friends will be held after the service.
