Charles King

D. Charles King, 86, of Townsend, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on June 8, 2026. Charles was born on July 4, 1939, to Joseph Herman King and Johnnie Meryle King. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his family and the life he built around them. Charles proudly served in the United States Naval Reserve and spent 37 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He began his career with the FBI in Washington, D.C., before later transferring to the Knoxville, TN field office, where he continued serving until his retirement. He had a deep appreciation for nature and the beauty of East Tennessee. In retirement, he could often be found riding his Gator through the neighborhood, visiting friends and neighbors, and making sure he was home in time to catch Fox News. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Georgia King; his sons, Jeffrey King (Tammy) of Nashville, TN and Mitchell King (Sytha) of Townsend, TN; his grandchildren, Joshua of Boulder, CO, Jamie (Andy) Friedl of Nashville, TN , Delana of Knoxville, TN, Sadie of Atlanta, GA, Mandi of Maryville, TN, Leah of Maryville, TN, and Austin (Averie) of Maryville, TN; and his great-grandchildren, Brody and Nolan of Nashville, TN, Ashlee, Asher, and Riley of Maryville, TN. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Charles is now at peace with his Lord and Savior. He will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew him. 

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at McCammon Ammons Click Funeral Home with the service to follow at 4:00 PM with Larry Beeler officiating.
