Charles Douglas Staley, age 93, of Maryville passed away February 26, 2026. He was a graduate of Walland High School Class of 1951. He worked at a family business, Maryville Monument for over 30 years. Then served as the Blount County Veterans Officer for 27 years. He devoted many years to assisting local veterans with VA benefits and was active in many veteran organizations. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion for over 50 years. He served in the Army with the 287th MP Company. He was stationed in Berlin Germany, serviced as Military Policy from 1953-1955. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Broyles; wife of 35 years, Helen “Sitter” Staley.
He is survived by his daughters, Cathy (Jim) Harris, Brenda (Ivan) Pritchard; stepson, Richie Graves; stepdaughter, Yvonne Graves (Justin) Gowan; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren.
Though he has left this world, his legacy lives on through the many lives he shaped with his love, wisdom, and steady presence. His family will forever cherish the memories of his laughter, stories, and the comfort of simply being in his presence.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 PM at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. The interment will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway, Knoxville.
