Claude B. Hammontree

September 23, 1905 — October 28, 2003

HAMMONTREE, Claude B., age 98 of Maryville, formerly of Greenback, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2003, at Morning View. He was a devoted member of Meadow United Methodist Church, was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during World War II and was a former employee of the Greenback Drug Store. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harris and Belle Hammontree; sister, Gertrude McCauley; brothers, Virgil, Allen, Charlie, Cam and Jess Hammontree. Survivors include one brother, Elmer Hammontree of Ypsilanti, MI; sister-in-law, Mary Hammontree; special nephew and wife, Bill and Sarah Hammontree of Chattanooga; 2 nieces, Barbara and Sharon and 3 nephews, Lee and Dennis Hammontree of Michigan, Jimmy Hammontree of North Carolina. He is also survived by special friend, Linda Cook of Greenback and a host of friends of Greenback. Family and friends will meet at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Cloyds Creek Cemetery for a graveside service with Rev. Steve Tuck officiating. Friends may call at their convenience at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
