Dr. Virginia Margaret Pickel

Dr. Virginia Margaret Pickel, age 83, of North Hills, NY, passed away June 26, 2026. She graduated with a Bachelor and Masters Degree from University of Tennessee and a PHD from Vanderbilt University. She was an esteemed Professor Emerita of Neuroscience at the Weill Cornell Medical College and the Brain and Mind Research Institute. She was preceded in death by her parents, RC and Hazel Pickel; husband, Dr. Jose Musacchio; aunt, Edna F. Pickel.

She is survived by her sister, Reva Sue Pickel-Gardner and husband, Isaac; niece, Yasmine V. LaBarca and husband, Thomas; great nieces and nephews, T.J. LaBarca, Nicholas LaBarca, Kaitlyn LaBarca; aunt, Myrtle Elkins; several cousins; stepchildren, Michelle Musacchio and Andrea Barnhill.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM, Friday, July 3, 2026, at McCammon Ammons Click Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 11:30 AM at Magnolia Cemetery with Rev. Ken Tucker officiating.
