Hugh Michael Clark (Mike), age 87, of Maryville, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who treasured time spent with his family and loved ones. Mike’s career began as a local radio disc jockey before becoming a popular Pulitzer Prize nominated newspaper journalist and spent decades as a Public Relations executive for some of the nation’s largest airlines. In retirement, he owned the renowned Vienna Cafe in Pembroke Pines, FL, and was the National face (and voice) for the Florida New Voice Club for Laryngectomees, providing immense support to those diagnosed with throat cancer.

He was an avid sports fan, especially for his Tennessee VOLS, Miami Hurricanes, Miami Marlins, Florida Panthers, and Washington Redskins.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Beverly Clark, and his parents, Frank and Mary Clark of Maryville.

He is survived by his son Michael Clark (Katherine), daughter Julianne Reynolds (Robert), grandchildren, Kayleigh Butchers (Simon), Nicholas Clark, Delaney Reynolds, and Owen Reynolds, as well as his siblings, Marilew Rudisill, Emily Yarborough (William), and John Clark (Sue).

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Morningview Village, Life Care Center of Blount County, and Stephen Moon of the University of Tennessee Hospice team for their compassion, kindness, and dignity provided during Mike’s residence in Maryville.

A private ceremony for friends and relatives to honor and celebrate Mike’s incredible life will take place at his beloved family cabin, Mountain Meadows, overlooking the Great Smoky Mountains.
