James Roger Smithey

James Roger Smithey, age 71 of Friendsville, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2011, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he served his Lord faithfully, was a Sunday School teacher and a choir member. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen E. and Margaret Louise Thomas Smithey and brother, David L. Smithey. Survivors include his wife, Ella Hitson Smithey; son, Mark Smithey and wife Della of MI; daughter, Leanne Caldwell and husband Brent of Friendsville; grandchildren, Holly Whitley and husband Aaron of Sequatchie, TN, Tamara Smithey, Michelle Smithey, Ryan Smithey all of MI, Zackary Caldwell, Isaiah Caldwell, Jeremiah Caldwell, Hannah Caldwell, Benjamin Caldwell; brother, Bill Smithey and wife Martha of Atlanta; sister, Rebecca Smithey of Friendsville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Smithey of Friendsville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Parker officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Clark’s Grove Cemetery for the interment service. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Church.
