John W. Steele

STEELE, John W., age 83 of Alcoa, passed away, Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at Baptist Hospital. He was a member of First Christian Church of Maryville and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Navy. He was retired from ALCOA after 42 years of service, was a member of the 25 Year Service Club, had been a member of Masonic Lodge #128 Maryville Chapter and Council and York Rite since 1957. Mr. Steele was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Sr., and Della McInturff Steele; sisters, Lucille Gillespie, Edna Garner and Winnie Miller; brother, Charles N. Steele. He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Ruth Curtis Steele; foster daughter, Brenda S. LeQuire of Greenback; special nieces, Jackie Cantrell and Brenda Whitehead; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Harold Ray and Casey Hancock officiating. The interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Big Gulley.
