Kathy Wilson Maples

July 29, 1954 — December 3, 2025

Maryville, TN

Kathy Wilson Maples went home to be with her Lord on December 3, 2025. She lived a beautiful life, completely committed to her faith and family. To know her was to love her, and she never held a grudge against anyone. She was an amazing athlete, playing basketball at Walland High School and Hiwassee College. Kathy was inducted into the Blount County Sports Hall of Fame in 2017. Kathy was a former employee of Alcoa Aluminum Company, East Tennessee Sports, and part owner of Gunnys Indoor Shooting Range. Above all, her love for the Lord and her love for her family was what defined her. She loved big and made sure each one of her family members knew just how much she cared about them and their happiness.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents AJ and Dorothy Wilson, along with sister Nancy Aldridge. She is survived by her husband Danny Maples, who was married to Kathy for 52 years. Danny adored Kathy and gave her the best life she could ask for, full of love and support. She always expressed her love for Danny and how his sacrifices and love for her made their life together a dream.

Kathy was also survived by her three children Ashley, Ryan, Tyler, and grandchildren Ashton, Ava, Ryleigh, Kylie, and Kameron, who all thought she hung the moon. Survivors include in-laws Ricky Maples and Glenda Gregory, who were more than just a brother and sister-in-law; they always treated her like their own. Survivors also include nephew Mark Huskey and wife Shelia, as well as Uncle Jim (Toby) Long and cousin Greg Long. Special friends Doug, Sharon, and Will Russell; Josh and Chelsey Cantwell; Gene, Jenny, and Roger Gregory; Marie Parrish; as well as best friends Susan Schaffer and Fern Sutton, were all treasured parts of her life.

Kathy was one of a kind, a mother to everyone and friend to anyone. She would walk through fire for her family and give the shirt off her back to a stranger. She would make sure that everyone she came into contact with knew about Jesus. Kathy will be missed by her family as they find peace in knowing that the Lord welcomed her into Heaven by saying the words she longed to hear, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 5–7 at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home in Maryville, Tennessee, with service to follow at 7 p.m. officiated by Bill White and Rex Everett.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given in support of Old Piney Baptist Church youth ministries.
