Lillian B. Mayes

• Lillian B. Mayes, 93, of Maryville TN passed away on September 2, 2025.Born January 13, 1932, in Mt Juliet TN, Lillian was known for her love of gardening, UT sports, camping, sewing, cooking and watching her children and grandchildren play sports. She was a long-standing member of Maryville First Baptist Church. Lillian graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1953 with a degree in Home Economics. She married Jim Mayes in December 1953 after his return from the Korean War. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Mayes, Jr, father, Harris Burton, mother Louise Gregory Burton, sisters Delores Spencer (Howard) and Ann Craighead (Tommy).

• She is survived by her four children Darrell (Sylvia) Mayes, Wayne Mayes, Kevin (Lisa) Mayes and Karen (Jeff) Johnson; her six grandchildren Alicia (Andrew) Eshman, Kaitlin (Jeremy) Box, Samantha (Jordan) Busby, Matthew Mayes, Brandon (Lauren) Johnson and Brittney (Chris) Bright. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, her brother Durell (Wilda) Burton, as well as several nieces and nephews.

• Service will be held at Grandview Pavilion, 2316 Graves Rd, Maryville TN on Saturday, September 6, at 1:00 p.m, located within Grandview Cemetery with Rev. Greg Long officiating.

• In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial donations be sent to Sacred Ground Hospice House, 1120 Dry Gap Pike, Knoxville TN 37918.
