Lois Modean Burchfiel

Lois Modean Burchfiel, age 95, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, in Maryville.

Modean was born on November 28, 1930, in Maryville, Tennessee, where she also spent most of her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jackson “B.C.” Burchfiel, her son, David Burchfiel and her brother, Doug Mincy.

A devoted homemaker, Modean dedicated her life to caring for her family and serving others. She was a loving, strong, and fiercely independent woman whose kindness and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on everyone she met. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a longtime Christian and member of Maple Grove Baptist Church.

Modean had a deep passion for genealogy and ancestry, spending countless hours learning about family history and preserving it for future generations. Above all, she was most proud of her family—especially her two sons, Mike and David. She cherished time spent with loved ones, whether traveling to Florida, camping, or simply being together, creating memories she held dear.

She is survived by her son, Mike Burchfiel; her grandchildren, Jason Burchfiel, Allen Mincy, Deana Mincy, Shannon Odom, and Talehma Bright; extended family members, including Linda Burchfiel and Carolyn Mincy; and many great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her for her caring spirit and generous heart.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on January 22, 2026, at Grandview Cemetery in Maryville, Tennessee.

Modean will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her strong faith, and a life well lived in service to others.
