Marion Shope Dailey, 83, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. He was a retired veteran of twenty years in the United States Army where he received numerous awards and commendations. He served tours in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of Meadowbrook Christian Church were he served as an Elder and was the Adult Sunday School Teacher. He taught at William Blount High School as a Vocational Instructor of Education and was awarded the Teacher of the Year for 1992 and the Blount County Chamber Awards and Recognizes Educators (C.A.R.E.). He was a generous and caring man and will be missed by many. Mr. Dailey was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa McMahan; parents, Wiley B. and Bess Dailey; sister, Delia Garland; brothers, Cal, Dal, Allen, Horton, Austin and Rex Dailey. Survived by loving wife of 61 years, Eloise Garland Dailey; daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Gene Thompson, Betty Jo and Charlie Ashworth; son, Wiley Dailey; grandchildren, Reese and Caitlyn McMahan, Isaac Ashworth, and Elise Dixon and husband Tylor; great grandchildren, Jayden Rameriz and Tessa Finger. A graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Grandview Cemetery with Preacher Jerry Allison officiating. Military honors will be provided.
