Martha Gaye Cope

Martha Gay Cope, she was born April 23,1951 and passed away on December 29, 2022, after a brief battle with cholangiocarcinoma cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Cope: father, Harry Long; mother, June Hammontree; stepfather, Alfred Hammontree.

Survivors include daughter, Holly (Phil) Woodruff; son, Clay “Her Pride & Joy” (Katherine) Cope; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Lane, Griffin, Massey, & Atticus Cope, Kiley Jo, Dalton, & Marley Woodruff; sister, Cathy Goddard; stepbrother, Steve Hammontree; stepsister, Mari Beth Hammontree; brother and sister in laws, Eddie (Sheila) Cope, Geneva Correro, & Joe (Jan) Cope. Her lifelong friends “The JUGS” - Linda Berry, Kathy Hollingsworth, Pat McIntosh, Jerry Franklin, Dora Jane Satterfield, Darlene Chapman, Vicki Gunnels, Terri Johnson, & Sylvia Patterson

Gaye was a member of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church as well as a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a devoted wife, mother, nana, and friend. She was a faithful caregiver to family members and her grandchildren. Gaye was an avid scrabble player, made the best sweet tea and loved all things Greenback.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Pine Grove Presbyterian Church and the service will follow at 6:00 PM with Rev. Ron Sabo officiating. A private graveside will be held with the family.
