Martin Joseph Bostrom, age 53 of Maryville, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022. After graduation from Georgia Military College, Marty was commissioned as a reserve officer of the U.S. Army. He then attended Clarion University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in finance, and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Upon graduation he was assigned to helicopter training at Fort Rucker, Alabama, and later stationed with the 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Later, while stationed in Germany he was forward-deployed to Croatia in support of Operation Joint Endeavor during the Bosnian war.
He worked for Clayton Homes for 24 years where he played an important role as the Director of Environment, Health, and Safety, keeping team members' safety top of mind and leading their facilities. Marty was passionate about the health and safety of all team members throughout the company, and was also an integral part of the COVID-19 Task Force. While at Clayton, he also led a weekly Bible study group. His faith in God and the love for his family was very important to him. He was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Vols fan, loved to golf and hunt, and had a passion for BBQ. He will be deeply missed by those he loved and more so by those for whom he prepared brisket.
