Mary Lee Davis

Mary Lee Davis of Townsend, TN. passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, at home surrounded by loving family at the age of 96.

Mary Lee was born on February 21, 1930, in Sevierville, Tn., she was the daughter of the late Edgar Oliver Hale and Callie Lee Brewer Hale.

She married Hewell J. Davis on December 12, 1951, after meeting him on a blind date. They were married for 62 years until his death on May 7, 2013.

Survivors include three children, daughter, Sharon (Paul) Sooter of Maryville, Tn; sons, Jeff (Michelle) Davis of Townsend, TN, Michael (Becky) of Georgia; five grandchildren, Jonathan Sooter, Meredith (Emily) Sheridan, Ethan Davis, Stephanie (Chris) Benelli, Corey (Morgan) Davis; two great-grandchildren, Lena Benelli and Branch Davis.

Mary Lee loved her family above everything else, and she considered her Family to be her occupation. She was an avid reader, especially of British murder mysteries and she was still reading until shortly before her death.

Living next to the Smoky Mountains, she loved seeing all the wild animals strolling through her yard which included bear, deer, turkey, and fox.

The rest of the family is very grateful for the time that Mary Lee’s son Jeff, his wife Michelle, and Mary Lee’s grandson Ethan spent caring for her thus allowing her to remain in her home.

A private family service will be held in Remembrance of Mary Lee Davis.
