Mayford Stephen Effler

Mayford Stephen Effler, 77, was a long-time resident of Townsend and Wears Valley. He passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024, at his home with his loved ones and his dog Evie by his side. He was a jack-of-all trades and was known for this witty sense of humor and practical jokes. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Bessie Effler; in-laws, Woodrow and Myrtle Teaster; brothers, Milton and Leon Effler; sister, Joann (Vance) Shuler.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ruby Teaster Effler; daughter, Missy (James) McCarter; son, Mark (Mandy) Effler; grandchildren, Hayden and Hauna Whaley, Chase (Brittany), Bryce and Mackenna Effler; great-grandchildren, Porter and Presleigh Whaley and Averie Grace Effler.

Family and friends will meet at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 11, 2024, for a graveside service at Tuckaleechee United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Treadway officiating.
