Melissa Best Tom, age 62, of Louisville, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday August 11, 2025. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, and passionate animal lover, especially to her cherished Golden Doodle Betty. Melissa will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A 1981 graduate of William Blount High School, Melissa was married to Dave Tom for 31 years. Her favorite things in life included spending quality time with her husband and Betty, traveling in their RV, exercising, doing yardwork, and watching their favorite shows. Melissa also loved traveling to Kansas City to see her daughter and son-in-law and also to cheer on her favorite team the Kansas City Chiefs and we all knew why. She was preceded in death by her sister, Cay Campbell. She is survived by her husband, Dave Tom; her daughter, Lindsay Meinzer (Brett); her parents, Troy and Harriett Best; her nephew, J.J. Campbell; and her beloved dog, Betty.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the University of Tennessee Hospice for their exceptional care and support during Melissa’s final days.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 PM, Friday, August 15, 2025, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral with the service to honor Melissa’s life at 6:00 PM with Pastor Jason Stubblefield officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 16th at Williamson Chapel Cemetery for the interment.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Blount County Humane Society, a cause close to Melissa's heart.
