Paul Nichols age 83 of Maryville, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015, at the family home. He was a member and deacon of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War. He was a mason and member of the Mountain View Lodge #358 and Eastern Star. He loved Blue Grass music and was also a special ed. school bus driver for the Blount County Schools. Preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary Nichols; brothers, Robert, Charles, Ray, Frank, and Maurice Nichols; sister, Irene Millsaps. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Nahala Ayers Nichols; daughter, Mary Barto daughter and son-in- law, Paula and Kirk Rauhuff; son and daughter-in-law, John and Pam Nichols; grandchildren, Richard Rader, Nahala Rader, Joseph Barto, Sheena Rauhuff, Dustin Rauhuff, and Jonathan Nichols; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be 7:00 pm Saturday, November 21, 2015, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Linginfelter and Rev. Bill Dixon officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:00 pm Sunday at Maple Grove Cemetery for the interment. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Building Fund.
