Richard A. Simek Sr. , 72, of Greenback, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Wednesday January 13, 2016. Though he was born in Schenectady, NY, Richard called many places home throughout his life - East TN, South Florida or behind the wheel of his RV exploring the country. He moved his family to Knoxville in the late 70's accepting a job with TVA until his retirement. He claimed the title "angler of the year" several times as a member of the B.A.S.S Federation Club of Moorehaven, FL. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, August and Helen Simek and his first wife Karen Jandreau Simek. He is survived by his wife Juanita Hyde Simek, his children Rick and Tim Simek(Arlene), David West(Debra), Jon Jeffries(Carrie) and Jennifer Olivet(Kevin). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.
