Richard Winborn Byers Jr., born November 4, 1930, in Fort Worth, Texas, passed away June 29, 2025, in Maryville, Tennessee. A dedicated educator, Richard spent 23 years teaching and coaching at Riverside Jr. High and Middle School in Fort Worth, later serving as assistant principal at Daggett Middle School until his retirement in 1984.
Richard was a graduate of Northside High School, Texas Christian University, and North Texas State University, earning degrees in physical education and school administration. He was a member of the National Honor Society and the Future Teacher's Club, and excelled in athletics.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wancye Burton, his second wife, Maxine Palmer and his daughter Melody Hull. Richard is survived by his son-in-law, Tim Hull; grandchildren, Sheldon (Sarah), Ryan (Emily), and Jonathan (Elise) Hull; and ten great-grandchildren.
A long-time member of Paw Paw Hollow Baptist Church, Richard will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and love for his family and friends.
