Roy Rogers

December 25, 1952 — April 16, 2026

Maryville, TN

Lee Rogers, born on Christmas Day, was a remarkable man—one of those rare individuals who leaves a lasting impression on everyone he meets. He had an easy way with people from every walk of life. He was intelligent, well-versed in current events and politics, and always ready with a good story or a joke, even when he was the punchline. Lee loved golf with a passion, and fall Saturdays found him faithfully watching college football and cheering on the Tennessee Vols.

Lee was born December 25, 1952. The youngest of five children, he and his siblings were raised in the Church of God Home for Children.

He graduated from Sevier County High School and shortly thereafter enlisted in the United States Air Force. Lee served honorably from 1973 to 1994, ultimately achieving the rank of Technical Sergeant. Throughout his 21 year career, Lee was awarded numerous service medals & accolades – such as The Meritus Service Medal, The Air Force Commendation Medal & The Ariel Achievement Medal – just to name a few. Lee was a talented & highly regarded KC-10 Inflight Refueling Operator was promoted to instruct others.

His Air Force career took him around the world, placing him in service during several major conflicts. He served with pride, dedication, and an unwavering sense of duty.

After retiring from the military, Lee moved to Maryville to be near his sisters, Anne Haworth and Marti Womac, and their families.

He began working as an assistant in the Green Meadow Country Club Pro Shop, where his love of golf and easy rapport with people made him a natural fit.

Following his time at Green Meadow, he became Manager of Foothills Plaza Wine & Spirits. Over the years, he developed a deep appreciation for fine wines, and many in the community came to rely on his discerning palate and thoughtful recommendations. There, his knowledge, enthusiasm, and genuine interest in helping others earned him a loyal following.

He served as Manager for fifteen years, and at his retirement celebration he simply said, “All good things must come to an end.”

And now, Lee’s wonderful life has come to an untimely end. If one word could define him, it would be loyalty. Lee was loyal to his family, his friends, and his country.

A patriot of the highest order, he faithfully attended Memorial Day and Veterans Day services, honoring those who served alongside him.

His love for family and friends was deep and steadfast. Lee was always ready with a listening ear, understanding, and—when asked—wise counsel.

Full military services for Lee Rogers were held 2:00 p.m. on May 19, 2026, at the John Sevier Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, TN. Family & close friends were in attendance to honor Lee and pay their respects.
