Teresa Ann “Tippi” Jedlicka Taylor, born June 24, 1954 in Port Lavaca, Calhoun County, Texas, passed on from this life at 12:11am on July 23, 2025, at 71 years of age. Teresa loved to travel, and felt most at home on the beach with the sand between her toes. She absolutely adored her children and grandchildren and made sure they wanted for nothing. She will be missed by so many, and though her time with us was cut so short, we are grateful that the pain is gone and that she was secure in the knowledge that she would transcend pain and death to find eternal love and happiness in everlasting life through Jesus Christ.
Teresa was a member of the Alcoa High School class of 1972. She met Terry, her husband of 47 years, in Memphis before marrying in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1977. They moved to Jackson, Mississippi where they had their first child, Jayme, before moving to Maryville, Tennessee to have their second child Tara. Except for a brief two years living in Ormond Beach, Florida (a beach town she very grudgingly left), Teresa spent the rest of her life living in Maryville and Louisville, Tennessee.
Teresa’s career spanned many jobs before landing in the occupation she was made for. Many will remember her as a commercial property manager in Knoxville, Tennessee for over 30 years, supervising the leases and upkeep of some of Knoxville’s most visited and well-known shopping centers and office buildings. Her tenants could always count on her organizational prowess, incredible memory, and meticulous attention to detail with all of the properties she managed.
Teresa was a strong, highly intelligent, and beautiful wife and mother to her two children and grandmother to her three grandchildren. She spent every minute she could making sure that her family had everything it needed and that her children grew up to be successful and loving parents in their own right. Always the planner, she was the one who meticulously laid out every family event, trip, and birthday party. Her children remember her as the mom who could help with any and all homework and was willing to stay up as long as needed to help get that project done. She prided herself on keeping a spotless and well-organized home for her family and was always prepared to host family events.
Teresa lived an incredible life full of love for family and travel to exotic destinations with her husband, family, and close friends. She and her husband Terry purchased an RV so they could take trips anytime they wished, often taking their grandchildren along. Teresa and Terry were so fortunate to have adventurous friends that accompanied them all over the country and the Caribbean. Even in the last year of her life she traveled to Colorado to celebrate a grandson’s 1st Birthday, Belize with dear friends, and Hawai’i with her children, a long-time dream of hers. Her children will always remember with fondness their many family trips to South Carolina and Florida beaches growing up.
Teresa is preceded in death by her husband Terry Kendall Taylor, father Harry Frank Jedlicka, brothers Don and Charles (Chuck) Jedlicka, her grandparents, and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her mother, Lela Jedlicka, son, Jayme Taylor and wife, Missy Redding Taylor, her daughter, Tara Nicole Taylor Roddy and husband, Rusty Roddy, her grandsons, Grayson Kendall Roddy, Avery Thomas Taylor, and Bailey Kendall Taylor, brothers Terry and Buddy (wife Barbara) Jedlicka, sister, Lisa (husband Pat) Knight, sister-in-law Rachel Pearson, several aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
We wish to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at University Cancer Specialists in Alcoa, Tennessee, the caring nurses and staff at University of Tennessee Hospital and Blount Memorial Hospital, and the caring team with UT Palliative Care and Hospice, many of whom she got to know so well through her husband’s over 10 year cancer journey. Though her struggle was brief, you all were so kind, supportive, and loving. The family will receive friends Wednesday July 30, 2025 from 5PM-6PM at McCammon Ammons Click Funeral Home with service to follow at 6PM with Rev. Glen Dale Ray officiating.
