Twila Wear McCollum Ragle received her second pair of angel wings on Wednesday morning, July 30th. Her first pair of wings was earned here on Earth because she truly was an angel. Twila lived her life in devotion to her Lord and Savior, always putting others before herself.
Born on February 18, 1926, in Bell Town, Tennessee, Twila was beloved by all who knew her. A gifted storyteller, she delighted friends and family alike with humorous stories and heartfelt wisdom, leaving everyone around her smiling and feeling cherished.
During World War II, she courageously stepped into a role traditionally held by men, driving trucks at the Alcoa Aluminum Plant. Later, she enjoyed many fulfilling years in Tennessee and Washington, D.C., building a distinguished career with AT&T. Throughout her diverse experiences, Twila's joyful spirit and generous heart touched countless lives during her remarkable 99 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle and Robert Wear; husbands, Burl McCollum and Ivan "Bud" Ragle; her beloved daughter, Debra McCollum Alligood; sister, Blanche Stephens; brothers, Oral and Eugene Wear; and niece, Linda Keery.
Twila is survived by her niece, Judy Frost of Knoxville, TN; great-nieces, Sarah Parrish of Jacksonville, FL, and Elizabeth Milling of Savannah, GA; great-nephews, Robert B. Frost Jr. of Knoxville, TN, and Stephen Grant of Jacksonville, FL; as well as five cherished great-great-nephews.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Morningview Village Senior Community and Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and support; they will not be forgotten.
