William A. Evans Sr.

William A. Evans, Sr., age 79 of Maryville, TN, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010, at Blount Memorial Hospital, Maryville, TN. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #31 Hamilton Township, NJ and a lifetime member of AMVETS Post #79 Westhampton, NJ. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Melba Smith Evans; sister, Violet Evans Barlow. Survivors include his daughter, Linda Zoda of Hamilton Township, NJ; sons, Ralph Bates and wife Linda of Trenton, NJ, Dr. William A. Evans, Jr. and wife Clare of Tuscaloosa, AL, Dr. Scott A. Evans of Bordentown, NJ; sister, Dorothy Evans of Maryville, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Dick Abbott of Maryville, TN; 5 grandchildren, Duncan Evans, Stephanie O’Brien, Frank Zoda, Ralph J. Bates, Dawn Bates; 5 great grandchildren; 6 very special nieces, Nancy Welch, Patricia Boss, Leyanne Harper, Susan Ruelle, Katherine Cook, Beth Ann Moody; a family of friends at Shannondale; a very dear and special friend, Helen Fuller. Family and friends will gather at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Grandview Cemetery for a graveside service with Rev. Rob Williamson officiating.
