William Alvin ''Grampy'' Brown

BROWN, William Alvin “Grampy”, age 97 of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2003, at Colonial Hills Nursing Home. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church, was a 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner, York Rite and Past Patron of Mary Blount OES 133. He was preceded in death by his dad and mother, Charles Henderson and Matilda Burchfield Brown; sisters, Ella Hughes, Nancy Whitehead, Thelma Brown and Mae Teffeteller; brother, Carrie Brown. Survivors include his wife Nelle, who he married March 15, 1935; daughters, Mary Mills, Becky Davis and husband Bud, Billie Baxter and husband Don; grandchildren, Billie Mills, Kitty Morgan, Mike, Bobby and David Mills, Doug Davis, Nancy Allmon, Mary Day, Betty McKenzie and Richard Saunders; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brothers, Hardie, France and Charles Brown. A Masonic service, provided by Unitia Lodge, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Salem Baptist Church followed by a funeral service with Rev. J. C. Reed officiating. The interment service will follow in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. Friday at the Church. Those who wish, may make donations to the Shriner’s Crippled Childrens Hospital, 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45229.
